Guardian VolSec Network

I recently started following Guardian Voluntary on twitter: @GdnVoluntary

Shortly afterwards, I received a direct message saying: "Thanks for following. Don't worry we won't spam you - but if you'd like to become a member of our network click here."

Intrigued, I followed the link.

You can sign up to The Guardian's Voluntary Sector Network for free, just follow that link.

It's a sophisticated sharing centre for jobs, events, news and information regarding the Voluntary Sector.

I haven't had a great amount of time to explore yet, but I thought I'd pass it on. If you're an organisation, individual or even a business with ties to the VolSec, you might find it interesting.

If you join up, let me know what you think by leaving a comment on this post.

Britain's Top 1,000 Charities

Really interesting article from The Guardian's DataBlog:

The death of Claire Squires in the London marathon - and subsequent influx of donations to the Samaritans - have drawn attention to the size of Britain's charities

The money is a huge boost to the Samaritans, who raised £6.7m in the latest year available, 2010 - according to this data from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

Top five. To see full data, follow the article link above.
